Hi, this is me … Kerstin Stiller
I believe that art is more than something you hang on a wall—it’s an experience that evolves with you, shifting and adapting just like life itself. My work is for those who see the world not as static but as a constant flow of change, energy, and connection.
I come to art with a perspective shaped by my journey. I was born in East Germany and have called Virginia home for over 18 years. As a mechanical engineer, I’ve spent much of my career solving problems and designing automation equipment. That background influences my artistic process, which is a fusion of science and art.
I paint large, pixel-like squares with acrylic paint that transform representational subjects—like a face, a flower, or fruit—into abstract, textured pieces. These layered surfaces aren’t just visually dynamic; they radiate energy, inviting you to connect deeply with each painting. Up close, the colors may seem to vibrate, shift their temperature, or reveal unexpected depth. From afar, my work might feel incomplete—but that’s the point. Your mind fills in the gaps, drawing from your personal memories and experiences, turning each painting into something uniquely yours.
My art will resonates with your soul, sparking memories, emotions, and conversations. My first portrait was of my twin sister, and that connection to family, self, and the stories we share are at the heart of everything I create. My art is designed to evoke both wonder and self-contemplation.
When I'm not painting in my studio or drafting my ARTLOVERS Mail, you can find me at a nearby CrossFit box working out. At night I often sit in bed reading a book (fiction) before turning off the lights. These activities are my must haves for switching off and having that balance in life.
